TASTING NOTES
A delicate aroma of ripe peach and pear on the nose with hints of pineapple and lychees. On the palate it offers a full aroma of lime and tropical fruits and a slight honeyed edge held together by stony minerality and medium acidity with a long and creamy almond finish.
WINEMAKING NOTES
This wonderful Gavi was born in the heart of the Gavi area, where the hills become sweeter and the ground turns red. This wine is made from hand-picked Cortese grapes grown in a twenty-five-year vineyard at 280 metres above sea level on limestone-rich clay soil. The growing system is the Guyot which helps the Cortese grapes ripen fully and
evenly. The grapes are handpicked and gently pressed, then cool fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Unoaked, the wine is bottled in the spring following the harvest.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Located 20 km south the town of Gavi at 280 metres above sea level, near the Ligurian Apennines, La Smilla's vineyards are perfectly placed to produce exquisite grapes. Danilo Guido manages his vineyards planted on steep hills in a traditional way with limited use of machinery. The cellar is located in the centre of the village of Bosio.
