TASTING NOTES
Delicate aromas of cherries and marasca cherries completed by delicate vanillas notes emerge from the glass. The juicy easy-going palate offers blackberry jam and licorice alongside polished tannins.
WINEMAKING NOTES
The Barbera grapes are handpicked from low yields, south and southeast facing vineyards planted on the hills around the winery in Nizza Monferrato area at 250 mt. (asl). 50% of the grapes undertakes a process of cold maceration in order to enhance the aromas extraction. The other 50% of the grapes follows a traditional process of vinification: grapes are destalked and soft-pressed and then left on the skins for 10 days. The wine is then aged for a 50% in Slavonian oak barrels and the other 50% in French oak used barriques for 10 months.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Marco and Micaela Bonfante, are eighth-generation farmers in the Barolo region. For all the generations prior to them, the Bonfante family had been farmers growing grapes, and then selling them off to other producers. It wasn't until 2000, when their grandfather passed away, that Marco and Micaela changed family tradition by starting their own family winery and vinifying their grapes. The winery is a family-run company; Marco, graduated from the Oenological School of Alba, he is the wine maker and deals with the production and management of the company at 360 degrees.
